"over the long haul the city will need to be ready and willing to adjust fees and charges to meet increasing costs"

The City of Fruita Feasibility Study

The Real Facts

How would the recreation center affect Fruita?

It has been said that the recreation center will make business want to move here and create growth. The real fact is that higher taxes have never made an economy better.

A 33% tax increase would stifle our economy even further. Resident will shop in Grand Junction and our surrounding communities rather than here in Fruita. hurting our local businesses.

It is not fair that after the residents of Fruita foot bill to build a $40,000,000 recreation center and then have to pay a nearly $700 "annual user fee" to enter the building, or use the facilities.

Seniors that live on a fixed income will not be able to afford to use the proposed recreation center, and these are the very people that we are told the center is for.

the average household income of Fruita residents is less than that of our neighboring cities and towns and well below the average of Colorado. Why should we foot the bill ($40,000,000) to build this regional recreational center.
